NURSERY CURRICULUM

The Nursery sessions include provision of the following meals for children aged 2 years and over*
*(However the nursery will provide food for children aged 1 and above once a food disclaimer form has been signed and completed. Parents are advised that the Nursery shall only provide what is on the Nursery menu for that day and will not be responsible to cater for any dietary requirements for children under 2 years of age. If a parent does not wish for the nursery to provide the Nursery Menu it is the responsibility of the parents to provide cooked meals for their child/children for under two’s which we will heat and serve).
- The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is a curriculum set in place to offer equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice for the learning, care and development of our young children.
- At Ivy League Day Nursery we offer a secure foundation for future learning which is planned around the individual learning needs of the child and is promoted through on going observational assessments
- Parents are expected to partner with the Nursery to ensure that the young child progresses and does not get left behind in their individual development.
- Reports will be written for your child on an annual basis, usually mid November to December or when your child leaves to go to school.
- If you feel the need to discuss your child’s progress at any other time during the year, please do not hesitate to telephone the nursery to make an appointment to do so.
- The nursery will be staffed with suitably qualified staff (i.e. NNEB, NVQ 2/3/4 or Btec).
- All Ivy League Nursery Staff have been carefully selected through a thorough and rigorous induction process for their various skills and core competencies as well as their love for children.
- They all have knowledge of the relevant statutory acts, standards and policies in order for the care of young children.
- We have the required ratios of qualified staff as specified by the governing body, Ofsted, and are committed to training unqualified staff via NVQ’s and accredited training courses.
- We are committed to the on-going training and development of our staff.
- All our staff are Police checked via the Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) for Children’s Safety and are First Aid Trained

- Ivy League Day Nursery is committed to providing equal opportunities and operates an equal access policy for all children irrespective of race, colour, family structure, social, cultural or religious background.
- This is reflected through equipment, books and posters, celebrating festivals and also through the meals cooked at the nursery.
- The staff supports this through their planning, to create an environment full of opportunities for all the children who attend the nursery. We encourage all the children to have a positive image of themselves and we discourage any form of discrimination that might inhibit this.
- Our core opening times are 8:00am – 6:00pm, Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays.
- Children must arrive no earlier than 8am and leave no later than 6pm.
- Parents who are late must pay £5.00 per five minute late charge to staff that have to stay behind with your child.
- It is imperative that we are made aware of any alternative arrangements regarding your child’s collection from nursery. Unless we hear from you we will be forced to keep your child at nursery and you will be charged for this time.
- Should you designate another person to collect your child from nursery, authority must be in writing or a telephone call to the manager, a password will be given at this time to be used for the collection of the child for that one time. The designated person must then give the password to the person who opens the door and they will be allowed to enter the building.
- The Nursery is open all year round and only closed for one week over the Christmas - New Year period, all statutory bank holidays and three days training, which is held in August, dates to be advised.
- Fees are payable at the full rate for all periods of absence, including holidays and sickness.
- Full fees must be paid prior to family holidays being taken, failure to comply with these terms and conditions, and for any reason the required length of notice is not given, the deposit held by nursery will be forfeited and the child will not be reinstated.
- Children are required to be registered for a minimum of 3 full days.
- If we cannot offer a space immediately, your child's name will be added to the waiting list.
- There is a waiting list fee of £50.00 which will be deducted off the initial registration fee
- To register for a placement, a fee of £150.00 per child is payable with the completed Registration Form.
- Where a child does not subsequently take up the Nursery place after registering the Registration Fee is non-refundable
- A deposit equalling £250.00 is required within two weeks of acceptance of a place being offered
- The deposit is refunded in full, less any monies owed, provided one month’s notice is given in writing prior to the child leaving nursery or changes in circumstances
- If no deposit is made at this time then the offered place will be revoked and given to the next child on the waiting list.
- In the event of child/children not taking a nursery place after the holding deposit has been paid for the start date agreed or the settling procedure has commenced, the holding deposit will be used as notice for a four week period of payment for the child/children place.
- Should you increase your child/children’s days or if there is a fee increase you will be required to pay a top-up on your Holding Deposit in order for your Holding Deposit to be in line with your payable monthly fees
- Deposit can be used against fees provided we are given a months’ notice
- Fees are payable one month in advance plus one month deposit, payable by BACS, Card Payment, Cheque (Cheques must be guaranteed by cheque card) or Standing order that must clear our accounts by the 1st day of each month. Parents are advised to set up standing orders to leave their accounts by the 26th of each month to ensure clearance.
- Fees are payable at the full rate during the period of sickness, absence vacations and Bank Holiday’s.
- Fees are payable in accordance with the attached Fee Schedule. Fees quoted are per child and are based on a pro-rata.
- Where two or more children from one family attend the Nursery for 3 days or more per week, the eldest child (or children if more than two siblings) shall be entitled to a 10% reduction on their monthly fees.
- In the event of altering days one months notice must be given; i.e. Notice given on the 14th of the month to reduce or increase days will be altered on the register from the following month i.e. 14th July-14th August will commence changes from 1st September. We will do our best in most cases to accommodate parent’s request.
- Late fees will incur a £5.00 per day charge. Full fees are payable for any absences like holiday & sickness. Fees will be reviewed annually in April.
- Cheques returned unpaid by your bank will incur a £30.00 per cheque charge
- The nursery reserves the right to refuse admission to any child whose fees are in arrears at the beginning of the month
- One months notice in writing is required if you intend your child to leave or decreases sessions. If for any reason notice is not given one month’s fee is payable in lieu of notice.

- Breakfast – cereal, toast, fresh fruit, fruit juice or milk
- Lunch – 2 course midday meal with vegetables, dessert and water to drink.
- Snack – cake, sandwiches, savoury snacks with fresh fruit, milk or fruit juice.
- Snacks and water are available throughout the day.
- All fees are inclusive of meals.
- Please provide your child with 3 spare sets of clothing in case of accidents, 3 vests, 3 pairs of trousers, 3 jumpers, 3 tops, socks or tights, 3 pairs of panties or enough pairs during potty training
- All items must be clearly marked with the Child's name.
- Parents must be aware your child/children are not permitted to bring valuable items with them to the Nursery. Ivy League Nursery will not accept responsibility for any subsequent loss or damage.
- Any items found will be confiscated and bought to the office.
- Parents are asked to provide sun hats and an adequate sun block during the summer months to ensure that the child/children can benefit from outdoor pursuits.
- Nursery management reserve the right to exclude any child from participating in outdoor activities if it is considered that he / she may be at risk from the sun.
- For children who are still in nappies, parents are asked to provide Nappies/Pull ups and Wipes, Nappy cream, Face cream/Lotion. Failure to do so will result in the Nursery Nappies, Wipes being used at a charge, which will be added to your child’s account.
- All children must be provided with indoor slipper and wellington boots for the garden.
- The Nursery cannot accept liability for loss of toys or clothing.
- Please label your child's belongings.
- Ivy League Day Nursery would like all children to refrain from wearing jewellery, as we do not accept responsibility for items being lost, stolen or damaged. (Children should only wear stud ear rings whilst in the nursery).
- The nursery reserves the right to refuse admission without loss of fees to any child whom the nursery might consider is unwell or suffering from any infectious diseases or complaints.
- Any child who develops an infectious illness must be kept at home. For sickness such as vomiting, diarrhoea, discharges from eyes or mouth, conjunctivitis, sore throat and obvious rashes there is a 48 hour exclusion period from nursery or until the child is well enough to return.
- Any child administered any form of immunisation must be kept at home until deemed fit to return to the Nursery.
- Children with a high temperature should not be at nursery, please inform the staff if your child is suffering from any minor cold or snuffle.
- For minor medical conditions, children who require frequent medication, the nursery is able to administer. These medicines must be prescribed by the family doctor and full instructions must be left in writing for the staff, the parents will have to sign the medication consent form each day of administration.
- Medication MUST be clearly labelled with the child’s name and date of GP visit.
- All medication administered by Ivy League must be prescribed by a GP, except in the event of an emergency, such as a high temperature a parent or guardian will be contacted to ask permission to administer Calpol to reduce a Childs temperature.
- The Nursery Manager will use their discretion if a child needs to be collected
- All our policy and procedures are available for inspection on request and can be viewed in our parents’ room.
- Parents must familiarise themselves with nursery policies and procedures to avoid misunderstanding.
- You must inform us immediately of any changes in address, phone number; Doctor Etc
- Always ensure we have access to you or another carer of your child in case of emergencies.
- The nursery is a NON SMOKING environment and whilst on the premises no smoking is permitted.
- Due to our Safe Guarding Policy, usage of MOBILE PHONES is also prohibited whilst on our premises.
