Themes
Whilst Children are at the nursery, ninety percent of their time is taken up by play; this is probably quite obvious however what may be less obvious is that through play, children develop in mind and body.
Because play seems to come naturally to children and their enjoyment their enjoyment of it is so self evident and spontaneous, it’s a natural way of fulfilling their curiosity and using up their energy which results in learning.
Play involving different and varied activities teaches children about perseverance, co-operation, decision making, and enthusiasm, all of which is required in adult life. |

Working to themes gives the children a chance to become familiar with the subject matter, to work at their own pace and to exhaust all possibilities of subject matter at one time. Themes are carefully thought through and should encourage a positive self image promoting development and above all to give the children an enjoyable pre nursery experience
